Subtotals
With the FYN Layouts App, you can define subtotal sections in your documents to summarize specific blocks of lines.
This improves clarity and gives your customers a clear structure — for example, when organizing by services, product groups, or project phases.
How It Works
Subtotals are defined using two special comment lines in the document:
- Subtotal Start
Marks the beginning of a section whose lines should be summarized. - Subtotal End
Closes the section and triggers the subtotal calculation.
All lines between these two markers (items, resources, etc.) will be included in the subtotal. Items marked as optional or alternative are excluded from the subtotal calculation.
The report will then display a dedicated subtotal below (or above) this block, visually separated from the rest of the document.
Subtotal Settings in the Report
In the FYN Layouts App settings, you can define where the subtotal should appear in the report:
- Above the section
- Below the section
- Both above and below
Additionally, the print settings of a document can be individually adjusted using the Request Page before printing.
Report Display
- Subtotal blocks are visually emphasized in the report — e.g., through indentation, borders, or formatting
- The subtotal is displayed in the Total column with its own amount
- Optionally, sections in the report can be expanded or collapsed (if enabled)
Interaction with Line Numbers
If the “Calculate Line Numbers” feature is enabled, the lines within a subtotal block will receive multi-level line numbers.
This further reinforces the structural grouping.
